For engineers, geoscientists, reliability, operations and HSE professionals in Malaysia's oil & gas sector: AI for subsurface data, predictive maintenance, plant analytics, drone inspection and safety. Most are enterprise tools your company licenses; every output still needs your engineering judgement and your company's procedures.
10 AI tools picked from our directory, each with a reason. Pricing comes from each tool's own site on the date shown on its SIM page. Baca dalam Bahasa Melayu
Professional responsibility
Verify every output. AI can be wrong, invent sources or miss Malaysian rules. Check it against the primary source before you rely on it.
Protect company and partner data. Well data, drawings, P&IDs and incident details are usually confidential under your PSC or contract. Don't paste them into public AI tools; use the tools and settings your company has approved. Personal data of staff and contractors is protected under the PDPA 2010.
Safety-critical decisions stay with people. AI alerts and predictions do not replace HSE procedures, permit-to-work, management of change, isolation or inspection by a competent person. A missed AI alert never means a system is safe.
It does not replace professional judgement. You remain responsible for your advice, work and sign-off under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994, the Petroleum (Safety Measures) Act 1984, PETRONAS PPGUS and your company's standards, HSE management system and permit-to-work, and, for registered engineers, the Registration of Engineers Act 1967. Follow any guidance from PETRONAS, DOSH (JKKP) or the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).

Machine-learning platform from KL-based Iraya Energies that reads old well reports, PDFs, logs and seismic images (OCR, NLP, image classification) so geoscientists and engineers can search decades of subsurface data in seconds. Cloud or on-premise.
Why:Built in Kuala Lumpur and picked by PETRONAS MPM (Sep 2026) to bring agentic AI to the myPROdata upstream data platform: search old well reports and seismic images in seconds.
SLB's enterprise data and AI platform for subsurface and operations data, with ML seismic interpretation, natural-language search and the Tela agentic-AI assistant that extracts and summarises reports, logs and spreadsheets.
Why:If your company runs SLB software such as Petrel or Techlog, Lumi adds ML seismic interpretation and the Tela assistant to summarise reports and logs.
AI-powered predictive maintenance: spots equipment anomalies weeks or months before failure, forecasts time to failure and suggests remedial actions, with no coding. AVEVA reports PETRONAS saved US$33 million with it since 2019.
Why:Proven at PETRONAS: early warnings on rotating equipment at onshore plants and offshore platforms, before failures cause downtime.
AspenTech's industrial-AI maintenance tool that learns failure patterns in compressors, turbines and other assets (AspenTech says up to 90 days ahead) and prescribes corrective action from FMEA.
Why:Predicts failures in compressors, gas turbines and turboexpanders and suggests the fix, linked to your maintenance (EAM) system.
Industrial analytics for process and plant data (historians such as PI), with AI features and the Agent Q assistant to speed up investigations, monitoring and optimisation. Used in oil & gas and petrochemicals.
Why:Lets process and reliability engineers analyse PI and other historian data themselves, with AI help, instead of waiting for a data team.
Low-code workbench for building industrial AI agents grounded in your sensor data, work orders, documents and 3D models (via Cognite Data Fusion), for jobs like root-cause analysis and equipment troubleshooting.
Why:AI agents that pull sensor trends, work orders and documents together for root-cause analysis and troubleshooting on rotating equipment.
Malaysian drone group Aerodyne's inspection service and AI-powered cloud platform for oil & gas assets: visual, thermal and confined-space inspection, gas-leak detection and asset-integrity software.
Why:Malaysian drone inspection with AI analytics: visual, thermal and confined-space inspection plus gas-leak detection, so fewer people need to go into risky spots.
AI workplace-safety platform that runs computer vision on your existing CCTV to flag 50+ hazard types (PPE, vehicle-pedestrian, restricted zones) in real time, with face and body blurring for privacy.
Why:Adds AI hazard detection to existing plant CCTV (PPE, line-of-fire, restricted zones) to support, not replace, your permit-to-work and HSE checks.
No-code builder for company AI agents and workflows connected to your SharePoint, files and systems, for jobs like procedure checks or scheduling. Requires an organisation Microsoft tenant.
Why:Build no-code AI agents on your own approved procedures, such as a procedure checker or a schedule generator, within your company's Microsoft 365.
US$200 per month for 25,000 Copilot Credits (tenant-wide), or pay-as-you-go via Azure; usage of agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot is included for licensed users
Why:Upload standards, procedures and specs you are allowed to use, then ask questions with answers cited to the source page. Don't upload confidential company data to a personal account.

Not on this page, and why
PETRONAS's own in-house AI agents (built for its staff, not sold to others) and generic "AI for oil & gas" apps we could not verify on an official product page. Free chat assistants for general writing are on the Workers page for oil, gas & energy.
